After much success and disappointment from hosting live talk shows in his hometown Tampa, FL, this seeker relocated to Los Angeles, CA on September 19, 2010 to begin an epic journey that does not consist of a plan B. Virtually unknown in the entertainment industry, this brave man is in pursuit of one goal & purpose; to become a nationally syndicated late night talk show host. This is the quest of Motown Maurice. Remember his name, for he is The Future of Late Night Television.
Today was a great and peaceful day and an upgrade from my last two Thanksgivings. Thank you so much for the invite Nassali. She prepared it all by herself. Go on with your bad self. Nassali stop playing and get your cooking show up and going. I'll be your taste tester if need be.
* Industry Minds minds event at their new location Busbys on Wilshire. There was a screening the The Boys. The Sherman Brothers documentary. I also had a particular conversation with the founder Dmico after the event which may change some things in the near future.
* I developed and submitted information through my agent for a show called "Your Comments Please." Its a politically based show. I know nothing about politics but I said why not. (The results included the word unfortunately. At least I got a response).
Final Thoughts
I failed to mention in my weekly video review above that I finally received the check for my last excused appearance. Its only $150.00 but its just enough to get me through an episode and a half of my web series. I actually didn't realize it came in, even thought I've been anticipating it. The check went to Tampa and my mom mailed me a package including other mail (as she always does). I got it on Friday and barely browsed through the mail. The next day she called and told me I may of received my check. Talk about a mom that looks out. She's the only reason I'm surviving right now.
Kevin Boot & Motown Maurice.
Randomly Kevin called me and he gave me a reason to stop working for a while. I helped him deliver some equipment, met some cool people and hung out. By the end of the night I asked him about Ebay with my Dune Buggy in mind of selling it. Kevin's response was, "You have a Dune Buggy? Do you know what you can do with a Dune Buggy?" I lost all desire to consider selling it after this night.
USC's The Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs (CBCSA)
and the Black Student Assembly (BSA)
Lawrence Doss & Motown Maurice.
Last Thursday, I befriended a USC student on Facebook and I found out about the Black Student
Assembly Labor Day cook out. The food was great and I met some cool students. Lawrence was the coolest of them all. I enjoyed great conversation with this inspirational young man.
Later in the night, I discovered I'm eligible for a free month with Netflex and reactivated my personal account since disconnecting prior to moving to L.A. (September of 2010). Wow, its been two years. I did have free access for a while through a friends account earlier this year but I lost it by signing out by accident. Moreover, I'm now faithfully watching the Teen Wolf MTV television series season one. I saw one or two episodes last year at my roommates house. I've always been a fan of the Teen Wolf movie with Michael J. Fox. Now I'm hooked on the TV series. Mostly because of a guy named Ben at The Last Damn Party (Labor Day). His passion for the show made my more interested and so far so good.
As the quest continues... The Future of Late Night
I almost didn't go to this Industry Minds but I'm glad I went. I left with brain storming power. It was also good to be there to see Industry Minds take things to the next level. Due to its growth, they moved it to a new location at a Hotel in Beverly Hills. No photos are allowed during the event anymore so are all the post event photos.
