Week 400: Listen to your Body

Weekly Written Review

On Thursday, I got to be apart of a Jimmy Kimmel Live shoot. My audition included speaking lines but I ended up not getting them. That was very disappointing but what you gonna do. Just keep it moving. There were two pros from the shoot. Number one, I got a good look inside Jimmy Kimmel's studio. It was somewhat surreal, walking down the hallway seeing all the photos of Jimmy and his guests. Could be a precursor of what's to soon come. Who knows? Perhaps I might take over his studio one day. Number two, I got to work with the incredibly lovable Guillermo Rodriguez, Jimmy Kimmel's sidekick. The shoot was basically a skit/McDonald's commerical. I was one of the basketball players and Guillermo was our coach. He's the best. I got to talk to him a little. I asked him about his son and his mother-in-law and later he asked, "So you watch the show?" I was like of course. The best moment was when he told me I had great reactions. I truly appreciated that. Just before he left I got to take a photo with him for Instagram. Looking out for this skit/commercial during Jimmy Kimmel's NBA finals special on game one and game two of the NBA finals.

* Was gonna play basketball today but my body said no. I think I also had some back pain happening...It's a good thing because I got an urgent audition (video sent) from Jimmy Kimmel Live and 5 hours later I got word that I booked it. If I played basketball I probably would've missed this booking.

Week 399: I was wrong, This is America

Weekly Written Review

Flashback to Week 397, I was balling out about my dissapointment in the This Is America music video shoot. Before we finally started shooting the scene I was rearranged a total 3 times and in the process, I lost my prime top center spot. I knew for sure no body would notice me. My goal for every shoot is to at least be noticed by one person. If I get at least one person to recognize me I'm good. Last Saturday, May 5th the music video came out and one, maybe two people contacted me about it that same day. I was like cool. Since then, all this week I've been hit with a barrage of Facebook tags, texts and Instagram DM's about this music video. I'm particularly in shock that so many people noticed me. Was I wrong! I was totally wrong. People are watching and under the right scope, they noticed everything. This has been a week of sheer internet fame. I'll take it. I don't expect anything huge to come from this but so far this fame is putting my name on the forefront of people's minds. I'll take the blessing. My actual interpretation of This Is America is another story.

Week 398: Storage Freeman

Weekly Written Review

It took a lot of work and a lot of trips but this week I became a Storage Freeman. I've been paying for a storage room in Tampa since 2004, upon arriving back from college. In 2010, I got a bigger storage when I lost my apartment. Later that year, I moved to LA and that storage slowly kept rising up. In 2015 I started the process of downsizing my stuff and switched to a storage for an affordable price of 30-ish dollars a month. That prize slowly kept creeping up and enough became enough. I set forth with the vision and the plan to eliminate my storage completely. With 80% (or more) of my belongings in my parent's porch and the remaining at Pam's storage shed, I'm set. I'm free. No more monthly payments. It took a lot of work. About 4 trips but I got it done. I'm so glad. It's rewarding. I possibly could've done it before but there's no better time than now.

Week 397: Rhythm me this, Rhythm me that

Weekly Written Review

Last Friday, while at the Marlon shoot, I got a call from a casting director. We're both familiar with each other. I've auditioned for him a few times. As soon as I had a break I called him back. It was about the choir scene music video I submitted for. Michael was hyped. He started by stating how professional I am at the auditions (which I can assume is pretty much why he choose me) and how serious this video is. He blew up the artist without indicating a clue. He also asked, "are you okay with getting shot but I mean it in a good way." I gave him my word, texted him my email and I was booked for the shoot. I had no idea who the artist was. Fast forward to Sunday, I arrive at the shoot location and I still had no clue about the artist. I speculated over the phone with a person or two and the names that came with were Celine Dion,  Elton John, and Stevie Wonder. None of that made sense for a shooting choir scene. I was eventually matched up with the other choir members and none of us new for sure, with the exception of one young lady. She did her own extensive research and she was convinced that it was Donald Glover. Hours passed, we had lunch and we didn't know for sure until we were escorted the prime area of the set. It indeed was him.

Slowly but surely they started to instruct the choir members of their duties. The dance number was new to all of us. Organically, I ended up on the top center of the group. After a few dance rehearsals, there was a clear concern coming from the choreographer in reference to me. With a hopeless look on her face, she told me to hold on a moment. She immediately turned around and walks towards the ear of the director, Hiro Murai. I'm looking at them, suddenly they're both looking at me. Then they proceed towards me. I'm saying all kinds of craziness under my breath. Hiro, tells me to the far top left of the choir. Disappointment took over my soul. I had the best spot, top center and now I'm on the far left. More time passed and they the moved me again. This time to the far right (my right). I'm saying to myself am I really that bad? I just bought and played a few sessions of Just Dance with my friend, you would think that would've helped. I know I'm rhythm challenged but I didn't think I was that bad. I ended up leaving the shoot really disappointed. I was certain no one would recognize me in the video. My spirits remained low for most of the evening. I soon forgot about it. Then came Week 399.

Sunday, April 22, 2018

* This Is America music video shoot...slightly low spirited after the shoot.

Monday, April 23, 2018

* Tennis

* I had an interesting situation today. Where do I start? Well, one of my housemates acts kind of "funny" sometimes. There were times she said hello to me and other time she didn't A few weeks ago she started talking to me about this situation. I told her I'll help her left the barrel of water next time if she needed help. She said she was too embarrassed to ask. Now forward to today and she ends up asking me to drive her, using her car to get a smog check.  Something else you should know is that she recently lost someone really close to her. He also lived at the house and passed away early this year. For some odd reason, he never said anything to me. I don't know why but he didn't even give me eye contact. Upon meeting me he made a decision not to communicate with me. Moreover, after the smog check, she revealed that she didn't think I would help her because her man and I didn't talk. She gave his childish explanation of why he didn't communicate with me. When he was alive he claims he tried to say hi to me one day and I didn't say hi back. That doesn't make any sense. Nonetheless, she admitted he was wrong about me. When we were about a mile away from home. I told her something I wanted to say since he passed but the opporunity wasn't present until now. I told her, "I have no clue why ----- and I didn't talk but despite that I'm am very sorry about your lost."
