The APPLICATION Starring LaCora Stephens

Post Represents: Saturday, December 10, 2011

  • The Application - Directed, Written, produceed  by Marshelle Giggles-Millls.

On September 26, 2011 I had the privileged of interviewing LaCora Stephens.

Listen to internet radio with Motown Maurice on Blog Talk Radio

Today I had the honor of seeing her perform in person for the first time and she wowed me away. Not only is she a fantastic performer and extremely beautiful. LaCora received the script for this play (The Application) approximately 12 hours before show time. I was also invited less than 12 hours before the show through Facebook. She was a fill in for someone who became sick.  She was flawless throughout the whole performance. At one point I thought it was some type of gimmick. Of course where were a few obvious glances at the script but besides that, you would of never known of her short notice. Her voice was fluid at all times. Despite the script in her hands, it never prevented her from showing a full range of reactions and emotions. Her expressions and delivery was always on time.

One word. One syllable. Wow.

Final thoughts

Without a doubt I was thoroughly impressed. There is no way in the world I could of put on a performance that awesome if I was given the script less than 12 hours to prepare.  LaCora Stephens is immensely talented. I'm afraid to see what her performance would be like with advance preparation.  LaCora keep thriving for greatness. It doesn't surprise me that she has the most views/listeners compared to any other guests I've interviewed on my Hustle & Shuffle blog talk radio show. LaCora Stephens is a star heading to the top.

Review of Halloween party at Crown Bar on Santa Monica.

Motown Maurice celebrates Halloween 2011 as Urkel or is he playing himself?

Enjoy my weekend theme song "Blow the Whistle"

Motown Maurice, I mean Steve Urkel... is having a great time.

There's Steve Urkel in the house without a doubt.

Blow the Whistle and do the Urkel dance.

What can I say. Steve Urkel has a lot of fans.

The party is over and they still want to take pictures with Motown Maurice. I mean Steve Urkel.

Unfortunately, this poor guy got knocked the *$%^ out after the party. I never saw he get back up.  He was breathing but  was certainly unconscious.

Final Thoughts

The whole night people went out of their way to give me mad props. Many stopped and said, "Urkel, I loved you on family matters. That was my favorite show. TGIF" Several times things got kinky when I asked the ladies to pull my suspenders.

On a too much information note: Dancing with these ladies gave me physical action I haven't received in a very long time. Nearly a year. I almost forgot how soft you ladies feel. This Urkel look has really been a working for me. It won't stop anytime soon. Before I arrived, one person at Subway told me I reminded them of Screech from Saved by The Bell.

This night is confirmation once again. The people are confirming and positioning my place in Hollywood as a Geek/Nerd. I can do it and I can dig it. Whats my favorite words? "Did I do that?" Blow the Whistle.

Photography Love

Within the past months, 3 different photographers offered to bless me with a photo shoot in support of my quest. All of these photos came right on time to celebrate my first year in LA and upgrade my casting profiles and my blog. There is a new surge of energy in the atmosphere because of these photos. I have fresh new pictures and I believe I may have a new niche (stay tuned for the niche). Below are 2 random photos for each shoot.

My Lifebook acting classmates Josh & Francis started a new production company and sent out an offer for free head shots. You know I jumped on that opportunity.

The one and only Eric Erickson of The Temple of the Cave provided this photo shoot for me for the sole purpose of upgrading my blog picture. If you haven't noticed already check it out above. I love it. That photo is fierce and epic. Much better than what I had before. The photo shoot was success.

These last two photos below were taken by my talent agent who use to be a photographer before the agency was established. Her photos are amazing and its exactly the bump I need to get some more attention on these casting sites.  My agent is a agent and a photographer. How great is that?

Final Thoughts

There are so many more photos taken on those days. The ones I haven't revealed are even better. I feel so blessed to have such great talented photographers who believe in me.

Thank you all so much.

I won't let you down.

Week 52: Going out on the Thrive

Last Saturday night (week 51), I had somewhat of an epiphany. As much as I love my Koreatown and Cafe Novel, I figured there's got to be a slightly closer spot with WiFi to work from. Carrying two bags every where can got tiresome. I wanted to find a few spots next to where I'm currently sleeping to eliminate travel and transfer time. That same night on the way to my secret sleeping location I realized the McDonald's exactly one block away had WiFi. Directly next door was a Japaneses franchise named Yoshinoya and they accepted EBT. I was in heavens location and didn't realize it.

Before walking into Yoshinoya, I had a great conversation with my mom in which she received very well. She wasn't to happy about somethings at home and what I told her apparently made her feel a lot better.

Day 357 Sunday, September 11, 2011

* I spent way over 4 hours on my blog at McDonlad's just trying to fix the numerical day order system that had an error. I basically had to revert back to each post and correct them manually because it was off by one. I would of loved to have invested that time doing something else but I don't take the detail of my blog for granted.

Yoshinoya on Vermont & Melose
McDonald's on Vermont & Melrose

* After long hours at McDonald's I needed to change up my spot. I went for a walk to relax and eat. During that walk I discovered a cool looking cafe called DC Cafe Library. I ended up going there almost every morning starting the next day. Another block down I noticed El Pollo Loco. Its a Mexican style grilled chicken spot... 3 letters, E.B.T. After I placed an order, they presented some coupons for a $5 two piece chicken meal plus sides. That sealed the deal for my return each following day.

Day 358 Monday, September 12, 2011

* I got a call from CBS to inform me that my episode of excused will be airing on Thursday. I already new this because a contact from WTTA My Tampa Bay Station already informed me. They also asked if I would be interested in another opportunity on the show plus a chance to be interviewed. Of course you know how I answered.

* Later that night I walked into DC Cafe Library more interested in watching their TV but for some reason they turned it off a moment or two after I arrived. I then went to the counter to price some granola bars. I'm not sure if I really wanted or if I had a look on my face that indicated that I couldn't afford it. It was only 75 cent and I think I said, "I'll get one next time." I don't quite remember. Either way the young lady asked me which one do you want and I pointed. She then gave it to me for free. I was humbly appreciative of her kindness.

Day 359 Tuesday September 13, 2011

* Another long day at the DC Library Cafe and the Pico Korea branch Library, then I was off to my storage room.

* Picked up mail from my old roommates house and took a bath for the first time in about 6 days.

* This book below came in and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Day 363 Saturday, September 17, 2011

* Read PostA De La Soul Request

* On the way back from the De La Soul Shoot, I made a stop by my old roommates house to pick Rush Hour 3 the DVD. I needed to use it to study for an upcoming audition. To my surprise there was a letter there from my mom. It was a beyond super generous donation. I called her speechless. Little did I know but the words of encouragement and motivation in which I shared with her on Sunday, lead her spirit to bless me they way she did. I partly felt bad because on Wednesday my encouraging words got a little mean. She said to me today that it only made her pray more. That's my mom for you. I love you ma.

* On the way out from my old roommates house, I made a stop at Best Buy to purchase a long awaited early 1st year anniversary gift. I wanted to actually wait until the day of which is Monday but I couldn't delay any longer. I well deserved it.

Motown Maurice got a little something from Best Buy. Can you guess what it is?  Find out next week!

Final Thoughts

This week was filled with intense blog affiliated ideas that would have been released in my next week review. In celebration of my 1st year I was going to post all kinds of exclusive never scene before footage from my quest. In addition to that, I was planning on editing an epic video highlight most of my journey. This past Sunday (September 18th) I made a rock solid decision not to do that anymore. There are a couple things I'm still going to do but not the bulk of them. I would be spending too much time in front of a computer. Most importantly, that decision will also upgrade the format of this blog. I'm now looking forward to totally revamping the way I post things on here. I don't want to reveal too much now because I want to surprise you later. Stay posted.

Other than the upcoming blog surprise, this week is the last full week of my 1st year in L.A. and it ended magnificent. The generousness donation from my mom and that super fly gift to myself was more than I could ask for. On Wednesday, I also received a donation from my sponsor for life Pamela Y. Robinson. Thank you Pam.

These rewards are definitely great omens of superb blessings to come. I am on the Thrive of greatness. I'm Thriving for success. I have Thrive power inside of me.

Notice how much I'm Thriving. Hint! Hint!

Basketball & The Beach

Post Represents: Friday, September 9, 2011

There is nothing like a video shoot on the beach. Two of my Lifebook classmates (Francis/Josh) who recently started a production company of their own cast me for a basketball spec commercial. It was fun and I got to spend time on the beach. Venice beach appears to be the ideal place for basketball shoots among other productions. I was there in June for a bootleg basketball pilot (See Related Post Below). Moreover, I've been meaning to go the beach for a while now and today I got a two for one deal.  I even managed to record some nice footage of myself there. I plan to incorporate it in a new video very soon.

Motown Maurice, Lifebook classmates, Venice beach...

One time for Francis who cast me for the shoot. I specifically requested to spend a  night at his place so I  won't haven't any problems getting their on my own in the morning. (In addition to that, it would be a great opportunity to squeeze in a shower.) We both leave Lifebook Acting class late on Thursdays nights so I thought it made sense. Not only did he agree to the idea, I left the next morning with some Jordan's. It was a little big for him, perfect for the shoot and he blessed me with them.  Although its a size 11 and I normally like wearing a size 12 but I'm making it work. Its not a bad fit. This is much appreciated. Thank you Francis.

Motown Maurice and new much appreciated Air Jordan's. Thanks Francis.

Final Thoughts

I really like this beach. I remember thinking it would be nice to leave the the beach for a while. What a second! That wasn't a thought, I believe that was a vision. :-)
