Day 18 in L.A. (The Weekend is Coming)

As the weekend approaches, working and money is on my mind. Last weekend I earned a little money as an extra at the Chris Brown music video shoot. Plus I had a last minute audition the same night. With all the excitement and momentum, I vowed to make sure, I'm just as busy every weekend. This weekend on the other hand, doesn't seem to have that same amount of momentum.

I have no money making opportunities lined up as of yet. I say "as of yet," because as long as your submitting for work, you can get a call anytime. The Chris Brown call came less than 24 hours in advance. There is always a last minute opportunity to make money, so we'll see what happens as the weekend approaches.

If I don't make money this weekend, I'm happy to say I'm still part of a production. My college friend Moon casted me for a church's promotional video skit. There is no pay but its a great opportunity to meet people and add new footage to my reel. It will also be recorded in High Definition. I don't have any footage in HD yet, so I am looking forward to it.

Moon just has that Hollywood director look doesn't he? Of course he is a director and he's directing the script for this weekend. There are more people in the cast but they left by the time we took the picture. If I'm not mistaken Kem is from England with some Nigerian background. She also has a strong English accent. She's been in L.A. for less than a year and she does some acting and hosting. I believe she is the host a show called R&B Live. She invited me and I'll have to check it out one night.

The cool thing about meeting her is that she identified my purpose very quickly. I don't know what type of vibes I'm sending off but she was saying somethings as if she was synchronized with the progression of my quest. More then once she stated she was excited for me and that I reminded her of herself when she first moved to L.A. She also told me more than once how much she was digging my hair and that you have to look different in this industry. She further explained, "If you don't look different no one will remember you and you'll blend in with everyone else." She applies her own advice with her stylish and fly Afro that people identifies her with. She told me once she pressed it and no one knew who she was. She was forced to explain over and over to people who she was. Since then, she has always kept her hair in an Afro.

The night ended with great conversation among the 3 of us. I don't know if the day lead to any clues or hints yet but of course I'm a patient person.
