Week 378: Obsession Intensity...Still Got It

Weekly Written Review

On Black Friday I sent a particular person a text. I invited that person to lunch. The invite was presented as an occasion of appreciation and the opportunity to share my story. Fast forward to this Tuesday. We had lunch, I presented my story/pitch and I think she liked it. She requested that I send her my script with additional pitch materials. At first, I was going to send the script as is but something she said inspired me to rewrite the ending. I always knew the ending needed work but our conversation gave me the spark I needed to end the film properly. The next following days I became obsessed. I don't recall having an intense work ethic like that all 2017 long. To a degree, I didn't like it. The thing is, I did a lot more than adding an ending. I reread it and I did a lot rewriting. Caught a lot of errors and incorporated a lot of cool new ideas. I had my moments when I was blasting music and dancing to every word I typed. Then there were moments when food and sleep were getting in the way. When I have an idea I become intense. It's not a lifestyle I want as regularly as I had before. I am grateful to know that I still got it when I need it. It's very possibly my lack of intensity all year long was made of for in this one week. Who knows?

* Rewriting my screenplay...

* My commercial agent called. I rarely get to speak to her that's because I don't book and I rarely get to put on avail. Moreover, she told me I was put on avail for Amazon. Good news right. I think not. When the following Sunday came around with the last fitting on Monday (Week 379) I knew it was a game over. Such a waste of time. It's just disrespectful have someone block out specific dates and never release them. This happened on August 23rd and more than likely it's going to happen again. I need to find a way out of this audition nonsense.

* Post office

Friday, December 15, 2017

* Livewave callback

* Final rewrite/reread for my screenplay and it was sent to Natasha. It's no longer in my hands. I am glad my rewrite is over. It was intense. These past two days reminded on how obsessive I become with my ideas. I don't like it. I rather not go to that place anymore. At least not anytime soon.

Saturday, December 16, 2017

* Basketball...I couldn't score much in the games I played but I got much props for the sidelines about my rebounds and defense.

* WaW planning...

* I made my mom cry talking about my father's situation. Our conversation was mostly about spiritual stuff. She thinks I don't understand what she's been through. I've concluded that I can't talk to my mom about religion/spiritual stuff anymore. I just can't.

Week 377: Perhaps I'm Finding my Niche

Weekly Written Review

On Thursday, November 16th I had two auditions. I went to the first one at AFI and left. I then went to the one in Studio City and came back to the one at AFI later. I had to wait a while for the one in Studio City. There was a line of male actors. When it was finally my turn I went in said hello and handed the director my headshot. The director immediately said, "Oh you're in Snake Outta Compton." I said, yes I am. I have a lead role in it." He then said, my friend, Jen did Wardrobe for it. Then he starts talking with everyone else in the room. "Did you see the trailer? It's awesome, you got to see it." I made sure I added, "If you watch the trailer again you'll certainly recognize me." I did the audition and for some reason, they laughed out loud a few times. When the audition was over they said thank you and the director also said, "and congratulations on your role in Snake Outta Compton. It's going to be a success." Fast forward to this Sunday, I just got the call and the booking for a two-day shoot.

It's another ridiculous horror comedy with Wayne Brady involved. In addition to that, the plot-line has zombies. I was later told that Wayne Brady himself chose me and they were still looking for my brother since the 16th. They actually chose me and found my brother on the same day they called. How crazy. What if I wasn't available? Moreover, the shoot is a trailer for a feature that's already been written. Let's see where it goes.

* Audition for a credit card spokesperson. After the audition, I took a right out the building then took a left across the street and an immediate left. I kept walking down passing the building I came out of on the other side of the street. As I was walking I got eye contact with a lady and she said, "You did really great in there." There were about four or five people in the room and she was one of them. She probably left the room right after I left. Maybe she had to put money in her car meter or something. Moreover, she thought I did great in the room. She said, it's a crab shoot and you never know which way it's going to go but it was nice of her to let me know how well I did.

* Library...

* Arrived at a networking event but once I saw there was a line I decided I'm not dealing with this. So I went to Kevin Boot's house to help out with a movie screening after-party he was hosting. Initially, I preferred to be at the networking event but the universe brought me to Kevin's. I helped out taking photos. Before the party ended I ended up talking to a spiritual young man. His previous conversation with Kevin had him in tears. We talked and he ministered to me. He said he saw me traveling...Toyko, playing the guitar and the piano, he saw me playing with a little girl (I immediately thought of Kevin's daughter), sports/basketball, he saw me in a house and that I shouldn't worry about how I'm going to get it. He also said he saw me healing people. The last thing I remember him saying is that he saw me ministering to my mom. Kevin did tell him she was spiritual. I thought the prophecy was flattering. Nothing means nothing.

Week 376: Thinking about a refocus

Weekly Written Review

A random person shouts out of a car and predicted I'm going to book it. I didn't book it. That totally killed my spirits. On the bright side, I don't owe the IRS any more money. That's enough to make this week a great success. Long story short, I contacted my old account in Florida about a 2013 tax issue over the summer that I forget he had nothing to do with. He then reminded me of the issue and advised that he could make it go away for about $250.00. I was skeptical but I took a chance. I signed some papers and I did what he said. It's all legal. Fast forward to this week and it's gone. What a blessing. Aside from that, I've been thinking about my next year a lot this week. In many ways 2017 has been fun but I'm not interested in having a year like this again. I plan to keep such things as tennis, basketball and Switch in my life but next year I need more work. As a result, my thoughts are deeply pinning towards a refocus.

* Amazing letter from the IRS

* On my way to my first audition of the day, I was walking while reading my lines. Out of no where a guy in a car from across the street rolls down his window, looks at me and start shouting. He said, "You're going to book it. I just got this feeling you're going to book it." Talk about a boost of confidence. Unfortunately, I didn't book that audition or the following one today. That was truly disappointing and dampened my spirits the next day.

* 6pm Basketball game at the YMCA. Scored the teams first 6 points. 11 total points. Missed one free throw. We won. At the end of the game they were like, "We needed you. You came just in time."

* Spontaneously ended up at a Laker vs Warriors game. It was cool. I didn't realize I had to pay for my ticket but it's all good. I caught the second half and it went into overtime. I was rooting for the Lakers of course. That's not something I did when Kobe was around. At the same time I'm also not fond of the Warriors.

Week 375: That time of the year...

Weekly Written Review

It's approaching that time of the year. That time of the year when body is requesting extra sleep. I mean double extra sleep.  I don't want to wake up. I just want to sleep and stay in the bed. In addition to just sleeping my body wants good food. It needs it. After a year of saltine crackers and chicken noodle soup it needs to replenish with mamma's home cooking. Thank God I'll soon get to give my body what it needs. It's getting the sleep now but the cooking with come in a couple weeks.
