* Weho Basketball. 3 for 3 in shots. In my last game, I put my team up with the last two baskets. A 3 and a rebound, then put back. After each shot, our opponent shot back-to-back easy 3s. No defence. It was so deflating.

* Pickleball at Plummer...

Week 807: Basketball Woes

Weekly Written Review

Basketball play increased this week, which is good, but I've realized I've grown to like shootouts more than games. A lot of team games are not good for my mental health. Too much bad basketball. Not enough team play.

Week 805: VPNs are legit

Weekly Written Review

I have great TV service, but it sometimes has connection issues. I was advised to use a VPN in the past, but it seemed complicated and expensive. After being pushed to the edge, I finally tried Proton VPN, and it's neither complicated nor expensive. It's the complete opposite, and it solved my connection problem. Now I'm in TV service paradise.

Week 804: Ducktales! Woo Whoo!

Weekly Written Review

Before sleeping, I consider watching shows I need to finish, but my spirit currently isn't interested in consuming all that violence and choice dialogue. I often get sleepy from searching for something to watch. This week, I landed on Ducktales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, and it became an instant nostalgia takeover. I loved this show as a child, and I still do. After the movie, I started on the show. It's been so long, but there are sequences I vaguely remember. I'm so into DuckTales right now, I purchased the original and remastered video games on Steam. I can't help but smile while viewing. Great stories. Great characters! Great voices. Sweet memories.

Week 803: Laundry profiling - Could've of Been Worse

Weekly Written Review

Last Wednesday was laundry day. It's never fun, but it has to get done. As I wait for the water to settle before loading my clothes, a guy walks in who, presumably, needs to wash his hands. He says hello, I say hello back. After a beat, he asks for my unit number. That's a bit odd, but I tell him anyway. The immediate expression on his face was as if he caught me in a lie. He tells me that's not a unit here, and he asks me again. I repeat myself. He repeats himself. Still calm, I ask, "Who's asking?" and then he insinuates I'm causing a problem. I repeat myself, and he claims he's the owner. I met the owner, and that's not him. He gets on the phone, asking questions. I attempted to make a call at no avail, but that was a waste of effort anyway. I tell him that if he needs to, he should call the police. He agrees about calling the police.

A few moments passed, and he wrapped up his call and approached, apologizing. He didn't know that my unit was a part of the building and attempted to give me a fist pump.

Let's break down what happened here. He wanted to call the police on a guy who used a code and a key to access the laundry room for washing clothes. If this isn't a case of prejudice and profiling, I don't know what is.

I spoke my mind, and he continued to apologize by explaining that before there was a gate, people used to steal. So, again, he looks at me, and the first thing he thinks about is theft.

After expressing myself, I told him, I'm a man of peace and regrettfully gave him a fist pump. I partly wish I had spat in his face, told him off more, and not accepted his apology. For days, my spirit was troubled by this.

Later, my partner left a message in the building chat, reminding everyone about the included building numbers and not to call the police on someone from those units doing the laundry. He actually revealed himself with more wack apologies.

Today makes a week since it happened, and I'm glad to finally write it out of my system. This should never have happened. Unfortunately, this type of profiling has happened before, and it ended much worse.

The fact that he wanted to call the police on a man for doing his laundry is pure evil.

Week 802: Operation Music Database

Weekly Written Review

What I appreciate most about my new DJ journey is that it has finally inspired me to organize my music and sound effects. Using specific commands, I located all my audio files, made copies, and began the prep. It's a lot, which has been consuming most of my time. Before now, after a project, I wouldn't have easy access to these files, and if I needed something as simple as a heartbeat, I would do a new search. Not anymore. Now I have an audio database.

Week 801: What Kind of DJ Am I?

Weekly Written Review

I'm not a real DJ, but I've been enjoying the preparation process. My algorithm is mostly DJing videos lately. Learning the art and some of the techniques has been enjoyable. At some point, I'll experiment with what I learned at The Y. That's good enough for me.

Week 800: Futsal Tested

Weekly Written Review

After discovering futsal late last year, I finally had a chance to try it on Friday. It was cool. I won't be adding it as a consistent sport in my schedule, but I'm open to trying it every few months. The biggest challenge is fitting it into my schedule. I'm not interested in doing it again if I have to play 3 sports in one day.

Shoutouts to Friday, aka Shirley, the dog I rescued after tennis. The next day, we gave her to a no-kill shelter. She's a sweetie, and she's no longer listed on their website. Hopefully, she found a good home. I think I did a good thing.

Week 798: DJ Motown Initiated

Weekly Written Review

Back in college, when I was producing my second album, I was all in on the equipment. At times, my equipment came in handy for student talent shows, and I experimented with DJ-ing. I'm on a similar path now. While my first album remaster is in post-production, I'm aligning some tools to revigorate my rusted DJ career. lol
