* Weho pickleball...
After much success and disappointment from hosting live talk shows in his hometown Tampa, FL, this seeker relocated to Los Angeles, CA on September 19, 2010 to begin an epic journey that does not consist of a plan B. Virtually unknown in the entertainment industry, this brave man is in pursuit of one goal & purpose; to become a nationally syndicated late night talk show host. This is the quest of Motown Maurice. Remember his name, for he is The Future of Late Night Television.

A little drama in the chats led to a suggestion, and then a Skills & Drills Clinic was born. It's not too much. Twice a month, and I like the challenge.

Partly inspired by some impromptu photos on Wednesday, I decided to put myself back in the game by reactivating one of my casting accounts. I'm not interested in theatrical roles. Commercial roles will be my go-to for now. It's something to do while I'm retired from self-producing for the next two years or so.

I know better, but I uploaded Hero's Journey on Reveel without reviewing it. Of course, later, when I reviewed it, there was a sound error. Thankfully, Reveel has an easy correction system. It's much better than what I'm used to.

I started playing less pickleball when I began coaching at The Y. My focus has been on facilitating and instructing. This week, I made an assertive effort to play more often. I even started a group on Pickleheads called Destination Dink. The group seems unsuccessful so far, but I'll keep building.

As I proceed through life, I retire various endeavors. Pickleball tournaments have been added to the list. I did a handful this year, and I'm done. It's too much detail. With an email, I declared I'm done with big pickleball events for 2025 and the foreseeable future. Most likely forever.
Tournaments and wars are cute, but at the end of the day, people just want to play more pickleball.
I also did a lot of writing this week, sharing a perspective with someone going through a divorce.

I restrung some racquets with a guy I met last year at Rancho. Cliff hooked it up. He shared tennis tips, and he offered his strings at no extra cost. Hopefully, my new strings will elevate my game. I believe my old strings have been holding me back.

After finishing Griselda, The Godfather of Harlem, and Narcos were added to my viewing list.
I like them both. Taking turns with each series. I didn't know much about Pablo Escobar until this show. His story is fascinating. The Godfather of Harlem introduced me to Bumby Johnson and ties the storylines of Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali in nicely. A lot is being learnt here too.
I'm glad to have a couple of past time shows on my list, considering how picky I can be.

It's finally done. It took longer than expected but that's expected. I had more issues than expected but that's also expected. My shortest doc is off for approval. No red carpet screening. I'm keeping a low profile with it for now. It might stay that way. We'll see what happens. It has to get selected by a channel first.

With the corporate basketball league ending this week, my tennis career is about to hit next level. It was on the back burner for a moment. Not anymore.

Done means there's still a lot more to go when it comes to my filmmaking, lol. I thought my documentary was finished last week, but I ended up having to rerender 3 more times because of errors, omissions, and discoveries.
Multiple renders ain't nothing new, but blowing a playoff basketball game should never happen. We had at least a 5-point lead with about a minute to go. A timeout was called, and someone said, "Let's kill time." We did the exact opposite. A teammate gets the ball, drives, turns it over, and they score a 3-pointer. Next possession, the exact same drive with a different player, another turnover. In addition, my consistent league-long contributions weren't valued in the last game. For example, one person thought it was a good idea to sub in for me to create "offense" toward the end of the game. The moment he got in, turnover.
I can score, but they might have a different impression because they don't move the ball around. I went 1 for 3 in our last game. Only one attempt came from a pass. My only basket was off a rebound. I'm done. I'll continue to play pickup basketball, but the recreational league experience is retired. If I had friends I would do it again but being a free agent with ballhogs suck. I'll find other ways to continue my professional quest.

Over the break, I officially decided to retire First Episode Podcast and on Saturday episode 20 was recorded. It was a good run. I enjoyed the producing aspect of it but so much the talking component. I'm glad I embraced the challenge. Between FEP and Sip & Chat Cafe, 20 episodes were published in less than 2 years. That's a good accomplishment.Weekly Written Review
