Week 601: She Ugly

Weekly Written Review 

When a person makes fun of my appearance (hairstyle and goatee), creates issues over their mother and sister treating me nice, plus shows no appreciation for my work ethic. That's just ugly. I spent four days around a very ugly person who is getting uglier every day. Frankly, she needs intervention. I believe her awards and medals are causing head swelling. Albeit, if it wasn't for the kindness of her family, I would've tossed the project. I justified continuing because I know that the documentary is bigger than me. It's bigger than her. The potential impact is motivation. Hanging around all that negative energy was the challenge. A person might argue that it's never a cordial situation around an ex-girlfriend. Touché but I'm producing a documentary with a strong focus on this person's family. It doesn't make sense to disrespect the artist thus, this person doesn't respect creativity, to begin with. Furthermore, this person never did like me, to begin with. She likes new experiences and attention. Some people never change and they get worse. Reference: Week 501: I'm Your Pusher Man I left deciding that I never want to communicate with that person ever again.

Week 600: Back That Thang Up

Weekly Written Review 

I have archive tapes that took up a lot of space over the years. It cost me thousands of dollars to maintain multiple storage units. When I got sick of paying, I eventually cluttered my parent's porch. I know people who threw their tapes away. Even if it crossed my mind, I don't have the guts to do it. Two decades later it's paying off. Preservation is beyond important.

Week 599: Hi-8 It works

Weekly Written Review

Since the holiday break, I struggled to get an old Hi-8 camcorder working. I even bought a camera at Shopgoodwill on February 4th. That was a waste of time and money because it didn't come with a power cord. Thankfully, my request for a refund was granted. Shipping not included. Nonetheless, during the debacle, I realized I didn't try connecting my camera to my computer. via firewire. I waited until this week and it worked. I had to get creative cleaning the camera head but overall a great success.

Week 597: Comes with the territory

Weekly Written Review 

I hit a low this week due to a lack of communication from needed participants. It's a blow when you're not getting the back and forth required. The only fix is communication. Thankfully it got better as the days proceeded. Organizing people ain't for everybody. It takes an uncanny amount of patience. As familiar as I am with how humans react, I'll never get used to it. Albeit, it's the territory of it all.
