Weekly Written Review
This week my Colorado trip adjourned and I returned to LA with a lot of potential for October. After booking a gig, it tends to be a drag getting back to the hustle and shuffle of finding another gig. I didn't leave Colorado with that drag because the word is we might be shooting another film in the fall. That's promising news. Now that I'm back in LA, I'm on a new grind. First I have to get caught up with the basics such as my blog. Upon my return, I made an executive order and decided it's time to cut back on sports. For the past two years, I've been playing basketball at the YMCA on average two times a week. That's been great but that vacation is also over. With my new focus to write a couple more feature films in the near future, I'm cutting basketball to one day a week. Believe me, playing basketball and tennis one day a week (a total of two days) will make a big difference. After returning to the courts after 3 weeks, I realized I'll be in great shape either way. I previously vowed to never stop playing basketball for long periods of time but after realizing I'll still be in great shape if I frequent sports less I decided it's an appropriate time to make an adjustment. With my new writing goals I'll certainly need the time and days to focus. Writing a feature film is a soul-sucking but I'll get it done as I always do.

Week 452: Colorado Paid Vacatio
Weekly Written Review
On Wednesday our production cast and crew had a BBQ and one of my co-stars referred to my trip as a paid vacation. That statement had some truth in it. I did my share of shooting but I also had a few days off to chill and relax. This led to a lot of thinking about my projects and the future of course. Overall, this trip was a great mental regrouping of my priorities. On my days off, I did a lot of thinking and when I was working I did a lot of hiking. That was a good balance and a great set up for what I need to focus on when I return. That focus is based on the need to write more and more and more.

* My shooting day 4
* Washing clothes
* I was thanked by the director for doing the dishes. He told me I was a good man and that assured me that I'll be a part everything he's a part of. I'm a night person and there were dishes in the sink. Why not clean them!? Doing what I thought was the right thing to do led to a highly encouraging message.
* Mother's day. Surprised my mom with a video of my crew wishing her a happy mother's day.
* At's bday. Video surprise included.
* GOT episode 5
Monday, May 13, 2019
* My head was very heavy today. In deep thoughts about my screenplay and what I need to do.
* My shooting day 4
* Playing Gears of War 4
* Got an audition notice. I made an excuse at first. I told my agent I was at a night shoot and I couldn't do it. Truth is there was a night shoot going on but I was off the schedule. Not long after, my agent notified me with a submission extension and I couldn't deny anymore. I got the audition done late during the night.
Tuesday, May 14, 2019
* Playing Gears 4
* Audition video from yesterday sent today.
Wednesday, May 15, 2019
* Playing Gears 4. Stopped at Act IV Chapter 4 Powerless

* Off to the next shooting location in Placerville and my our life in a beautiful cabin

Week 451: Colorado Diet
Weekly Written Review
During my first out of town feature film shoot, I learned a lesson early on. Most importantly, I confirmed interesting details about my dietary habits. This led to learning the importance of making dietary requests. I'm an easy going guy and when I was asked in advance about my dietary restrictions I said: "I don't have any." I can generally eat anything but I really prefer a fruit/vegetarian/fish based diet. I'm not against meat but over the years I stopped eating as much. Since I wasn't specific with my requests in advance, that put a damper on my eating chooses during my trip. The person(s) that did make requests were catered to the most and I was left with limited eating options to enjoy. I didn't get mad or complain but it prepared me to speak up when the opportunity comes up again in the future.
The day before I left for my trip I met up with someone who works in the entertainment industry at Starbucks. She showed interested in a couple of my projects and I ended up sending her some stuff. She gave a cool response to one of my pitch decks but as far as my screenplay, my heart and joy, I wasn't fond of the notes. I truly do appreciate her taking the time and providing feedback/suggestions but my immediate response was, "That's not my story." Her feedback set my mind on a path of independently developing and producing my own screenplay. I never really thought to do so in the past but the forthcoming reality is, I doubt there's a Hollywood studio that wants to tell my story without ruining it. I'm actually glad this happened. I was zoned out at first of course but aligned my mind onto the path of somehow getting it done myself.
Sunday, May 5, 2019
* Table read
* Military training
Monday, May 6, 2019
* I chilled out today and worked out my arms. Although, I wasn't shooting it was shooting day one for the production.
* GOT episode 4
* Got some feedback from about one of my pitch decks (CB)

* Ended up watching GOT again with my crew
* Shooting around with Hank at a dilapidated basketball court
* For some interesting reason my knee was hurting from the way back from shooting around but it was fine the next day
* A cat named Goober fell asleep on my bed for the first time
Wednesday, May 8, 2019
* Got an explosion of ideas for an origin story for a developing screenplay
* My 1st day of shooting. The last portion of the shoot was dedicated to the promo shoot. It went well but I forgot my backpack in that scene. I was concerned at first but it wasn't a big deal.
Thursday, May 9, 2019
* My shooting day 2. My characters death scene :-(
* More origin story brainstorming
* A cat peed on my bed. It's probably not Goober. There's another cat in the house that doesn't like guests.
* One week without...
Friday, May 10, 2019
* My shoot day 3.
* Got some feedback about my screenplay for someone I recently met who's in the industry and I wasn't fond of the notes. My immediate response was, "That isn't my story." I'm actually glad this happened.
Saturday, May 11, 2019
* Had a low spirited start but I was convinced to get out the house
* Hanging with Joel, Ben, and Billy.

Week 450: Welcome to Colorado
Weekly Written Review
Welcome to Colorado, where the players play. I'm behind on blogging because I was out of town for around three weeks. On Saturday, March 30, 2019, week 445, the day of "Justification" I got a phone call that led to a promising adventure. Just over a month later, I'm setting forth on my first out of town acting gig in Grand Junction, Colorado. I didn't allow myself to get too excited about it because in Hollywood things can go sour in a blink but this process remained sweet. I was able to make this trip happen with no schedule conflicts. Almost three weeks later, I can confirm it was a fun and successful trip. Colorado is beautiful. I would love to post photos but posting photos is no longer a priority of this blog. That's an extra step I'm no longer willing to take. Just imagine an astonishing place with incredible mountains, lakes, and rocks.
Sunday, April 28, 2019
* Meeting Fadel. Motown's biggest fan.
* GOT episode 3
* Dinner at Mario's with At...
Monday, April 29, 2019
* After further evaluation, specifically after recently learning the importance of submitting to contests and festivals early, I decided to submit to the Roadmap scholarship again. It's for my screenplay.

Tuesday, April 30, 2019
* Cleaning up...bagging fliers

* Road trip to Colorado begins. We stopped at Vegas first and stayed the night.
* Gave myself a hair cut in the hotel room and then later when for a stroll through downtown Vegas.
* I was peer pressured into doing karaoke. I choose "Don't Stop Me Know" by Queen. The same song I was singing a lot last week. It was fun.
Friday, May 3, 2019
* During the ride, I started developing a screenplay idea that's been on my mind for a while.
* Arrival in Colorado at Hank's place and tour
* Watching Aliens
Saturday, May 4, 2019
