Week 740: Not a Dang Root Canal

A root canal isn't as bad as it sounds but it's not fun, especially when the dentist doesn't know what "relax your tongue means." He was a bit over the top. Oh, well. The procedure doesn't end in one visit, there are multiple follow-ups.

Week 737: Auditions are for 5 Mins of Hope

Weekly Written Review

This week I had a pickleball audition. I made everyone around me laugh and made an impression similar to several auditions in the past. They listed me as "Under Consideration" and had no callback. I'm not complaining. I know the routine by now. I've been removed from the world of auditions for a few years now and this is confirmation why. My best is never enough. My best is only for 5 minutes of hope then reality takes form. I'll continue to submit for the remainder of the month then I'm out.

Week 726: RIP Eric Erickson

Weekly Written Review

Not long after arriving in Los Angeles, I discovered Eric Erickson on Craig's List and he invited me for my 1st radio interview on March 14, 2011. Over a decade later, I believe it remains my only interview in LA. 3 months later he invited me to The Electric Carnival. Followed by another invite on July 25, 2011 and August 24, 2011.  Not to mention, he hired me for voice-over work. Later, I was honored to interview him on my Blog Talk Radio Show. Years passed and we reconnected in cinema greatness starring in Snake Outta Compton. Snake Trailer HERE.

It was sad to learn of Eric's passing this week because he is one of the great ones. Looking back at our history, Eric created more opportunities for me than most people I've met in LA. 

I am grateful to have crossed paths with Eric Erickson. Thank you for being kind to me, Eric. 

Sending energies of peace, love, and strength to the Erickson family.

In preparation of something that fell through, I signed up for swimming lessons. After four days, I still don't know how to swim. There was a slight improvement but not much. I know the mechanics and I can probably teach better than do it myself. It's tough. I'll do my best to keep practicing but it's not something I enjoy.

Week 720: Let's Read

Weekly Written Review 

I probably don't fiddle with my phone as much as most people but the more I do it, it creates a sense of dumbness. In the back of my mind, I began telling myself to start reading once I get to a certain age group. On Wednesday night, I realized it was stupid to wait and proudly started reading. 

Instead of looking for a particular book, I decided to inaugurate with something familiar. This will be my second read of The Alchemist. I'm enjoying it like the first time. Reading or watching familiar entertainment is refreshing. That's a new embrace.

Week 709: Flukes Don't Count

Weekly Written Review 

Often if I lose in the beginning, it's a fluke. Don't allow us to run it back because in most cases, I'll win the second and the third time. It's the best of 3 for me. A similar scenario happened with tennis doubles on Tuesday. Played tennis doubles and my team lost the first set 1-6. We won the next set 6-1. We lost the third set 6-3. I was content at that point. We played again and my team was on the verge of winning 6-1 but they quit.

Week 701: Serving!

Weekly Written Review 

I've been playing tennis for years but never really practiced by myself. I didn't have anyone to play with on Wednesday so I decided to work on my serve. That's probably my first time in 7 plus years. I actually enjoyed myself and I proved my serve. Now, I intend on doing that more often, probably for basketball too. I played ball by myself a couple weeks ago and it was also great. Cheers to solo play and improvements. In addition, as previously predicted, my foot is much better. I don't even have to soak it anymore.
