Weekly Written Review
I don't get sick, however at least once a year my body finds a way to become under the weather. There's a big difference in word choice. If you've been reading my blog you'll know that I that became under the weather last week and I've been behind on life ever since. Furthermore, there have been several positives resulting from being under the weather the past few days and it all has to do with my change of appetite. For the past few years, I've averaged eating one can of Progresso's Chicken Noodle soup per day and last Thursday I couldn't even finish one can. I didn't even dare open up a can of tuna or sardines. The thought of eating those things made me feel worse. This whole ordeal put me in a situation where I had to reevaluate my eating habits. It's always hard returning to LA after my being fed like a king by my mom for three weeks. This transition was harder. I think my metabolism increases every Christmas and this time it expanded two times more than it did last year. As I was trying to recover, the main thing I was craving was tea and I love tea. I drink tea at coffee shops, my moms house other peoples houses but not my home. So on Friday of last week, I made tea for the first time while living in my garage. I used a pot and some tap water. I also used my Nintendo Gameboy teacup and tea bags my friend LuLu gave to me over a year ago. They were collecting dust all this time. I didn't enjoy the tap water or the process of leaving my garage to go into the kitchen to make tea but this caused me to have a rude awakening. If I like tea, why not drink tea when I want it, where ever I want it. Years ago I bought my mom an electric tea kettle. It never ever crossed my mind to purchase a tea kettle for myself until now. I had to become ill to realize that I'm entitled to drinking anytime I want. On Sunday, I want to Target and purchased my first electric tea kettle and my life instantly upgraded to royalty. The pleasure of drinking tea anytime I want, how and where ever I want is a lovely new edition for my life. While at Target I even picked up some oatmeal. Something must've really been wrong with me because this is my first time ever purchasing oatmeal. It's my taste buds, they're confused right now.
Then on Wednesday, went and bought a knife. Not for protection but to cut the salmon I purchased. I cooking stuff. I also picked up a whole bunch of seasonings, virgin olive oil and other cooking materials. I started making rice a couple years ago but that stopped after my summer of 2017 hiccup. I love rice yet, I've been depriving myself room it.
In conclusion, I'm cooking now. Correction, I'm forcing myself to cook now. My body won't tolerate mediocre meals anymore. It needs more and more food and I got to give it want it wants. Salmon is another food I love and it's easy to make. Plus, the best thing about cooking is having leftovers for the next day. I'm not glad I become under the weather last week because it wasn't a fun experience. To fully recover, my body needed lots of food and water but it was a struggle to put anything in my mouth. Drinking regular spring water was even difficult. Thankfully, I made it through this predicament with a change of taste. I also believe it's for the better. Man cannot live by tuna and sardines alone. I probably had to go through this just make the proper upgrades in my eating habits. I don't think I'll ever become a fan of the kitchen but for now, I'm finding a way to get along the process. Plus, having the luxury of drinking tea anytime I want was honestly worth being under the weather for a day or two. Every sip is a taste of the good life.
