The time has passed and so did the opportunity. What can I do about it now? Nothing at all. I'm not beating myself up about it but I do wish it never happened. Based off of a posted I received following the deleted message, they would of shot the Funny or Die skit today.

What is the lesson learned from this mishap? If you have a touch screen phone, don't listen to your messages with the phone next to your face. I'll never do that again. I made great effort by trying to reach out to Mel O'Neil but they hailed unsuccessful without a call back.

As I said in one of the videos below. It has little to do with getting the gig or not. Based on my track record of getting cast for gigs, it not happening as of yet. The main issue here is the fact that I can't communicate back as I desire to.

One Network to Another

Two things have proven to be consistent recently. One is the Facebook event invite system. As I stated in the post for this event (M.O.C.I.T.I - Men of Color In the Industry ) I've recently started to take those invites seriously. They have proven to be very effective. Then there's William Sturtevant, our relationship has been growing by keeping each other updated all the time. Each time we connect there is a revelation of commonalities between us. At the Artists Palooza
event below, we shared a moment of epiphany. After the screening of a film, a filmmaker said it can take 2-3 years before you can build your team. Immediately after that statement William and I looked at each other, nodded heads and smiled.

In a conversation the Sunday before (3rd Annual Red Carpet Oscar After-Party), I complimented one of William's videos on the home page of his website. Curious about how he pulled it off, he shared with me that he had a team in New York that collaborated on it. The team that he desires in LA hasn't formed yet because he says, "LA people are flaky." Sentiments I totally agreed with.

It appears when I'm hanging with William the night ends up as an adventure. After the film mixer we spent sometime looking for another event on Facebook and we ended up at the Rolling Stone Lounge and Bar off of Hollywood & Highland.

Final Thoughts

The night was adventure indeed for William & I. We almost got into the Destenee event for free but too many people kept garnering our attention. We kept missing the hook up and we it was our time, it was too late. I believe William and I are in the process of making a strong statement in this industry. As we continue to learn about each other and recognize we are very like minded, I'm being to visualize the possibly of a building that team we both desire. Once had a strong team in Tampa, FL just as William had a team in New York. We're both rebuilding on the west side. One networking event at a time.

Networking Withdrawal at the Crown Bar

The first time I was on the Crown Bar I had a blast (Halloween 2011). Once I received a personal invite from Damien Dean to celebrate his Birthday back at the same place, I anticipated the same type of excitement. That didn't quite happen. On Halloween I got much attention for people that lead to plenty of photo taking opportunities and networking. At arrival I sensed that probably wasn't happening today. My flashing lights earrings weren't appreciated (as I figured prior to because of the intimacy of the environment) and I interacted with nobody but Damien once.

Finals Thoughts

Its official. I'm addicted to networking. Although, I've been having a lot of fun in LA lately, every fun filled situation has always included the exchange of business cards. Nobody at the Crown Bar was trying to network. They were there to just have a good time. Which is a good thing but I'm not at the stage yet. I'm not sure if I'll ever be at that stage. I always have to have my cards with me in effort of promoting. Prior to arriving I was excited because I had new fliers to pass out. They arrived the Tuesday before. I came to Crown Bar stacked but I didn't even pass out one. Through, it all I was around people that was having fun. That's always a good thing. I don't have to be physically having fun, as long as people around me are having fun. The invite from the well connect Damion Dean was also very much appreciated and worth it. He's shown me much love at his events and I was glad to show some in return during his birthday celebration.

Despite the lost of Don Cornelius, Whitney Huston and David Peatson, February was a month filled with an plethora of blessings. Two of my favorite were the following.

A blessing that can't be described with words

Then there's a blessing that can't be described with words. This blessings in particular was something I was far from expecting. The best way to describe this blessing is to say its from God. I can't make sense of it in any other way. Here's my best chronological recollection of this phenomenal blessing bestowed upon my life. When your done reading it, try and make sense of it yourself. If you can.

On Friday, February 10, 2012, I received a message Facebook Message from an old college from named Grinette. The following message read as followed.

Hey what is your cell number/email/etc.? I don't normally see your messages on my updates but I'm glad I did today.I want to extend a hand of friendship to you the way you did for me way back when in Tally. I'm committing to paying that 200 for you for the next 5 months because I love you and want to see you follow your dreams because you are so talented. I want to thank you again for literally falling out of the sky when I needed you (not sure if you even remember the details) and would consider an honor to do the same. Talk to you soon hun.

Almost immediately I responded with:

I'm lost for words. How do I begin to respond? The only thing I can think of right now is how much I love you. I remember helping you but "failing out of the sky." I didn't do all that..What your offering me is far from the same. Which is why I can't find the words to tell you how much I appreciate just your thought. The thought alone surges my soul with the power invincibility. You are a blessing. I am so looking forward to talking you to you.

In the next message,Grinette confirmed that she would call me the following Sunday and she did. She further explained that she rarely checks her Facebook feed and by doing so this time she viewed a post about my living situations. She was flabbergasted by what she learned.

I took this opportunity to share my whole story leading as far back to when I graduated from college until now. Then she followed through by repeating what she stated in the Facebook message. Grinette is committing herself to sending me $200.00 a month for the next 5 months. Her explanation for doing so is to her return the favor for what I did for her in college. I clearly remember helping Grinette in college but it was a small favor I never thought about twice. All I did was allow her to store her belongings in my room while she went away on an internship or so. Whats the big deal about that? Apparently, its big enough for her to remember approximately 11 years later.

Grinette further told me that I probably don't realize it but I have helped a lot of people in HCC (The Haitian Cultural Club). HCC is the organization I've served as a member and later president for a year. Her statement made me think about another unique statement my first roommate for 9 months in LA told me when I was getting ready to move out.

5 days after we spoke (February 17th) she sent her first offering as promised. My new home is my first home LA. Its also the first time I've been obligated to pay for a place to live since March of 2010. That's approximately 1 year and 10 months. That's almost two years since I've had the obligation of paying a rent/ lease.

Before my current place, I've had 3 mandatory bills. My phone bill and two storage's. In storage in Florida and one in LA. Which makes an approximate total of $250.00 per month. As for food, I'm still on food stamps and I'm still loving it. Upon finding my new home. I had consider how I'm going to find an additional $200.00 per month. My Hollywood Blvd gimmick idea I came up with while at the movies one day was close to mind but I never had to use that idea. God sent Grinette. She came into my life to sponsor this additional expense. In a sense, I'm still not paying for rent/lease.

When Grinette and I spoke, it was the first time we spoke in over 10 or 11 years. How does she suddenly appear into my life and grant me with such a blessing. This is unheard of. If you are able to make sense of it please expound. The only sense I can make for this blessing is that Grinette is one of the newest angels placed in my life to make sure I succeed. Everything about this is so random and unheard of. Its nothing my imagination would of ever thought of. The timing and preciseness is impeccable.

Grinette, I know I helped you in college but what your doing for me is beyond help. What your doing for me near by unbelievable. You are truly a God sent. When I was holding your stuff in college, I was content with being able to burn your CD's. You had some jams. Carl Thomas, Musiq Soulchild,...Your music collection was rewarding enough. Now 10 years later I'm still reaping rewards, wow. Grinette God bless you. I can't thank you enough. By being obedient to God, you have made the next several chapters of my quest possible. As you are a blessing to me, I will soon look forward to the day I can do the same for you. Grinette, thank you on trillion times over.

The Cup Runs Over & Over

Just when I thought the cup was going to stop running over, it began to pour out even more. Grinette started and electric reaction. I shared the story with my Ma, Sister Prayer Joan, lol and she confirmed to spend me something as she randomly does. Then I told Pam, my second mom and to my surprise she decided to send me something. The following week they were both received.

Around the same time, one of my previous guests on The Motown Maurice Show, Charles Mattocks offered to send me half of my next months rent on Facebook. Although, I haven't received confirmation for the donation the thought is worth plenty.

I can't conclude the blessings of February without mentioning the message I've received from Karen D. A woman who I never met before but has been following my pursuit. In her own words through a Facebook message she expected to see something big to happen to me by now. Without even asking, she began to pour out her support toward my quest by introducing me to her prominent contacts through email. This story is still developing and I look forward to to sharing the progress of her support.

I have a very vivid imagination. I'm always thinking about all kinds of crazy things daily. Things that ends up happening to me are on boundaries of my imagination I haven't even discovered yet. The unexpected blessings I continue to receive makes every moment of this quest worth wild. As my Ma always tells me, "You are blessed."

Everyone, thank you so much for making February such a magical month. I wouldn't of made it this far if it wasn't for my all my gift givers. The number of people I have in my corner uncountable. There's an army of soldiers on my quest with me and the number continues to grow. Together we will define The Future of Late Night Television and much more.

The reason I received this invitation to audition as pne of the hosts of All American Idiots is because of a show I auditioned for back in February 24, 2011. This is a continuation pattern of me being remembered in 2012. My recent audition for Take Me Out is partly because I was remembered. I am in a few data bases. Actually, this is the second time the Love Scouts data base worked towards my benefit. Friday, April 8, 2011 I was invited to an interview because of Love Scouts that later gave me the opportunity to be on the show Baggage.

I received the message yesterday and I quickly put something together. This time I tried something different. I doubt my approach was successful but I gave it a try. I never utilize the race card but this time why not.

I am contacting you because you are in my casting files and I thought that you might be a perfect fit for this upcoming TV pilot. (We met briefly when you auditioned for the dating show, "Love Scouts in January, 2011.") Please see the casting call info. below and let me know if you're interested!!!

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

"All American Idiots"

Each state in the USA has a unique array of extreme subcultures, sports, foods, and experiences. All American Idiots, is a reality adventure show that will follow our two fearless hosts around the country, state by state, as the take on the most bizarre, extreme, and dangerous culturally relevant activities they can find. This is Americana at its best! Think Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations meets Bizarre Foods meets Dirty Jobs meets Jackass, through the heartland.

Each episode will put our 2 hosts in one of the 50 great states of the USA where they will attempt to tackle and maybe even master some of the strangest things that make that state, county or town unique. They'll participate in the weirdest sports, attend the craziest festivals and subject themselves to whatever odd right of passage is presented to them. This show is not a passive tour of the coolest sites in a state, this is an interactive adventure. Each epsiode will feature our talent getting hands on with every activity, and participating in 8 to 10 contained activities that will put our hosts limits to the ultimate test. Whether wrangling crocodiles in the bayous of Louisiana or competing in the annual lawnmower drag races in Tennessee, our hosts will tackle them all!

Basically, we just need you to chat a little bit about yourself and why you're so AWESOME for 1 or 2 minutes. The video does NOT have to be anything fancy, and there's no need to tape yourself doin' anything crazy.

I probably didn't hit the marks of what they were asking for but oh well... Its already behind me. I also didn't reference the show properly in the audition video. I kept saying "I'm an American Idiot," leaving out word "All." I"m sure that doesn't work towards my favor very well but oh well.

Besides, I'm not too sure about being apart of a show like that. I would definitely accept but hmmmmm....I know I'm fearless but my idiot ratio is pretty low. If they never contact me again, I won't lose any sleep.

Well...., maybe not too random because its happened before. As a matter of fact, something similar happened at the shoot today. Final Thoughts

They only used the background extras for 2 scenes. The first scene was a concert set up and I put out a lot for energy when the camera was rolling. Apparently my energy is humorous because everyone around me was trying to hold in their laughter most of the time. I gave so much energy in that scene that a few people in the production crew noticed and complimented my energy. They later assigned me for a semi feature role in the next scene. In that scene, myself and a young lady approached Amanda for autographs. With that being said, there is a good chance I might have a close up or so. It all depends because they did a similar scene with 2 other people when I was done. They might use my scene or they might not. Its show business.

According to Jasmine V., Amanda told the director personally that she wanted to use the scene with me because she liked it. I understand why she said that because what the staff, production crew and back ground extras didn't realize is that Amanda and I made a connection at the shoot. The universe kept bringing us together throughout the production. We made a dynamic, telepathic and synergistic connection. With didn't even talk to each other much. Other than the one time during the first scene when she said in front of everybody that I was starting to creep her out. I'm sure that's just her way of saying I'm sexy. As a matter of fact, I bet she's thinking about me right now. If you don't believe me, wait until the release of the music video. The camera don't lie.

In other news, the casting director responsible for me being at the shoot today noticed me right before I left and we met for the first time. He said, "Are you Maurice." I said, "I'm Motown Maurice..." We shook hands and he told me, "Motown Maurice, I see you on the submission list all the time." He also said, now that we met and knows what I look like in person (A lot of talent don't look like their photos in person) he will cast me more. Of course I expressed my gratitude.

In every video I've been apart of this year, some how, one way or another I manged to have the camera make a U-Turn and face me. Its never my intentions. I just believe in giving my all and when you give your all that's how you make Hollywood magic.

I started off as an extremely high frequency magnet drawing everybody towards me in the beginning of this event. After an hour or so, things started to increasingly slow down. This event and location slightly brought in a different crowd and vibe. This event was more about the live entertainment then anything else. As you can see everyone had a wonderful time. Nonetheless, I interacted with everyone I was suppose to connect with. There is no reason to talk with everybody.

* I attended a networking event put on by the Young Black 100 LA. It was a disappointing experience. Not one person greeted me. They only person I spoke to was a young lady named Mesha, whom I met at my last Chris Brown Shoot. Everyone else stayed in their circles and never looked my way.

This week, I began to have vivid visions of an strategic approach to build my late night empire in Hollywood. For the rest of this year I will continue to saturate L.A. they way I have been doing. In 2013, I will start throwing events of my own. The Future of Late Night Campaign Events. Finally in 2014, I will establish production for the relaunch of my late night show. That's just a glimpse. Everything is in order.

My mind is currently full of ideas and executing them is all about timing.

Yesterday, while at The Take Me Out interview, I received an email to confirm my participation for a music video this morning and I wasted no time to jump right on it. Music Videos have been good to me this year and I'm not going to deny them. This one made my 4th video for 2012 which sums up a total of 10 videos since I arrived in L.A. That's not even including the music video I will appear in this Monday. I confirmed it with a call during this shoot.

As soon as I arrived the first thing I did was check into the breakfast table. Can you say turkey omelet?

Talk about a music video full energy. I believe I out do myself one music video after another another. When the cameras where rolling I had extreme fun. Especially in the scenes where we had to dance and jump up and down. Other than not being able to take a photo with Savvy everything was great. I made several direct connections with Savvy during a few of the scenes. The energy was live. We literally danced together a few times. I even recall one of the young ladies in the band telling someone, "He knows all the words of the song."

I had no clue what kind of group they were when I arrived. During the shoot I witness a talented band emerging to represent tomorrows next generation band. Most importantly their personalities are warm and very pleasant. My further research caused me to stumble upon this video.

They are from Texas and they few in to L.A. for a couple of weeks to work on this video among other things I'm sure. Since they were apparently discovered by Lil Wayne are definitely in good hands. Soon the world will be knowing about Savvy. Its just a matter of time. They are talented young and fresh. I'm certain fans will embrace them very well.

Take Me Out? Me? Who? You?

Take Me Out is a new reality dating show originally from the U.K. and its soon to be brought to the United states. I received the email a week ago and today I went in for an interview at 12pm.

Final Thoughts

As I probably said in the video above, this process was great. They distinctly remembered me and contacted me because of my likability from previous shows I've worked on such as Excused. As I shared in detail at the Excused Party. I've received nothing but love from that production team. What made this day most special was the extended conversation I had with with one person in casting while I was waiting my turn. The conversation later looped into an opportunity. Super Bowl Sunday I came up with my own reality dating show idea and asked him if he was the right contact to submit the idea to and if he would be comfortable with that. He gave me his card and told me he's knows the right people to send it to.

I would of never expected an opportunity like that from today agend. That's the magic of Hollywood. In closing, several people tell me I should keep away from reality shows. Many people say actors should keep away from reality shows. So many people are anti-reality shows. Its not about the reality show, the date or even being on television. Its about building relationships. I am humbly grateful for the previous shows I've been on. Each experience has established me as a likable and reliable talent in this town. That's something I'm proud to build upon. As Edward said in part of our conversation about the industry, "we all need each other." I have ideas and he has the contacts. Its a win win.

Tonight was an interesting night. Before going out I had a handful of events to choose from. I ended up going to this one because I received a personal invite from my networking connect William Sturtevant. The location was at Genghis Cohen Restaurant, Bar & Music 750 N. Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90046-7206. The live music was presented by Jens Erik, Bonnie Piesse & Mark Hildreth.

Myself, William and the other two gentlemen in the photo above ventured off after the live event in attempt to attend another event by the Rolling Stone Lounge on Hollywood & Highland. That event was over but we did notice another event going on in the same area. We were by the Kodak theater mall area. The line was extremely long and we become curious about it. Turns out that event was called Tiger Heat. Turns out even further, Tiger Heat is popular event for gay men. Now this might sound crazy in reading but the two only reasons we attempted to get in was because 1. Hot women come with their gay friends and they are available (so I was told) and 2. Jason knows the guy that throws the event and he sent him a text to get us in for free.

To make a long story short, we never got a text back and we never got in. That's when we went to Buffalo Wild Wings. As I said, it was an interesting night. I'm very glad it didn't get anymore interesting.

I've been going out just about every night lately and there was no reason to stop now. This event was on my Facebook event list and I journeyed towards it. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be, then again, I'm not sure if I had any preconceived ideas on what to expect. I just showed up and found out it really wasn't much of an event at all. Things may have been different after 12am but I arrived during regular store hours around 8pm. It was all about the release of Sony's new Play Station Vita.

The promotion on Facebook said this much: Have what it takes to be an adventure hero? Get

to the Sony Store in Century City and compete to become immortalized in Uncharted 3.

Then, stick around for the PlayStation Vita launch at Midnight! (First come, first serve and

while supplies last.)

I arrived, played with a few display items and entered a couple of contests. One in which included a taunt performance video for Youtube.

I wasn't the star of the night but a handful of people certainly made me feel like a mega star. 3 or more people came up to me and asked, "Are you Motown Maurice." With some I connected the dots very well and I'm still trying figure out how the others know or remember me. The love was stupendous.

Very seldom I take part in something that doesn't included extensive networking, promoting...ect. Very seldom do I receive an invitation to take part in something that just allows me to relax and get away for the moment. Movies have generally always been personal form of escaping but for the second week in a row, I've been taking part in an adventure with in my adventure that I have no control over. My friend Cresha picks up and we just drive where ever the wind takes up.

First destination adventure, is the mountainous neighborhood of Hollywood Hills.

The final stop is Cafe 50's off of Vermont near Santa Monica Blvd.

I've been caught using technology on my get away. Next time I'll leave my tablet at home. At least I'll try.

Most of the time, I work like a machine. I keep things moving non stop. I don't take the time to incorporate relaxation. I tend to wait until I get burnt out then I start the relaxation process. That's not the best way to do it but its been my pattern over the years. On the other hand, without verbally saying it Cresha has told me two weeks in a row to, "Get your A** away from the computer and take a break. Relax. Be human." Its not something I would ever say to myself or put in my plans but I indeed recognize the importance for these adventure breaks. Cresha, thank you for helping me attempt to incorporate a balance of relaxation within my quest. Its just as important to all the networking.

* My good friend Kenf Sang whom I've known from Tampa for years was in town. Currently he resides in New York and he took the time out to connect with me for a while. He tried to hook up with me the night before. First he left the crazy voice message on my phone. I had no clue who was going on in that message and I had no intentions of calling whoever that gay person was leaving messages on my phone. Later Ken called and confirmed it was him playing and I couldn't help but laugh. I had no clue what was going on for a second. He then later tried to connect with me that night but for some reason he couldn't find my spot. The next day (today) we officially connected and caught up at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.

Hall of Game Awards is an award show held by Cartoon Network that was hosted by Tony Hawk and aired on February 25th, 2011.^[1] A 2nd show has been confirmed for 2012 with Shaquille O'Neal hosting.

There Are Two Perspective To This Post.

Perspective Number 1: For this event, I volunteered as an escort for the day. Yesterday (Friday), I came in for a rehearsal/walk through and was assigned to escort the Carolina Panthers football star Cam Newton. For some reason I was the very first volunteer to be assigned a celebrity. I did my research, showed up and committed to a 12 hour non paying assignment and they didn't even need my services. Cam arrived extremely late. As a matter of fact he was the last celebrity to arrive. He didn't get to walk to Green Carpet nor sit in his assigned seat initially as planned. While the show as going on I had to wait for him outside in the freezing cold. The rest of the production team were already on pins and needles waiting for him, so when he arrived they just took over. My presences was pointless. In addition to that, they had a very strict policy about volunteers taking photos, passing out business cards or having any personal communication with the celebrities. My video/photography documentation of the event was in gorilla style.

Unfortunately, this iswas the only photo on stage I was able to capture.

Perspective Number 2: There was a myriad of celebrities in attendance with brilliant performances lined up. However, I wasn't able to see Shaq enter the show on a zip line because I was outside in the cold waiting for Cam Newton. Furthermore, the photos below are from the internet and they are the perspectives from other photographers. I only posted photos of celebrity that I recognized from today.

I was actually present when this shot of Cam Newton was being taken. I was an
inch or two in front of the photographer.

Final Thoughts

Overall this wasn't the greatest experience for me. I didn't get to see the show and I had to stand out in the cold waiting Cam Newton for hours. However, despite all that, being in the presences of Shaquille O'Neal made it all worth while. I've always like Shaq because he is a fearless man with no shame and lives life to the fullest. I have always spoke very well about Shaq many times before today. Now all the great things I have said about him was been confirmed. At the rehearsal, the day before, Shaq took the time out to acknowledge the group I was with. He stopped and waved his enormous arm then carried on. Most celebrities won't even take the time out to do that much. Believe me I know. I've been around a lot of celebrities.

Then today I crossed Shaq two times and he interacted with me in both instances. The first time we fist pumped. I was stoked off of that for a while. He just finished practicing a portion of the show on stage and unknowingly he left the stage in the direction I was heading. I said, "Shaq tight work," with my fist facing his gigantic body and our knuckles bumped.

Towards the end of the show, we crossed paths again and he stretched his long arm out and greeted me by touching my shoulder. In total, within a 24 hour period, Shaq acknowledged my presences 3 times. 2 of the times were on a one on one individual basis. That meant a lot to me. I told my friend Lisa who invited me to be an escort and she said, "Wow, that's cool. He didn't acknowledge me, probably because he couldn't see me." Meaning he's so big and she's so small.

Early this week (Sunday) when my friend Ken Sang came in town, he took me to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles and he told me something that has been stuck in my mind since. He said, "Real Recognize Real." I do strongly believe that Shaq and I are of the same breed. We're a special unclassified breed of super humans living in disguise on the planet earth. I could only wonder if he identified me. It may be possible that electrifying source of energy transcended with Shaq. I don't know but I do know that Shaq and I will meet again.

I had the opportunity to be introduced to the president of Magic Image Hollywood Magazine last November at the Back Stage Actors Fest 2011 by my good friend William Sturtevant. Since then, William has continuously kept me abreast with all the developments of the magazine. Recent updates have been all about the launch their networking mixer that is clearly shaking up the Hollywood industry.

Another notable industry professional present was Anthony Meindl. From the Anthony Meindl Actors Workshop Writer/Director/Actor/Producer/Teacher. Anthony Meindl is an award-winning writer, producer, director and actor whose first feature screenplay, THE WONDER GIRLS, was the Grand Prize Winning Feature Screenplay in the Slamdance Film Festival Screenplay Competition in 2007. Prior to this accomplishment, Meindl was responsible for the production of an array of award-winning projects.

I've attended several industry event since I've arrived in LA. This event was definitely one of a kind. Seamlessly they incorporated multiple facets of entertainment and priceless information directly from major big wigs in the industry. Where else is an actor going to be able to dance, network, receive invaluable information and shake hands with prestigious casting directors such as Bill Dance. Magic Image Hollywood Magazine is taking the industry by storm. William, thank you so much for keeping me involved. I can't wait until the next one.

A portion of my character can be defined by the organisations I've either lead and/or participated in throughout the coarse of my collegiate matriculation and community involvement with my production company. By the time I was a junior in college, I was highly active in various student organisations at Florida A&M and Florida State University. My Alma Mater of course is FAMU but the University's are so close its almost an crime not to take advantage of both campuses. My main attendance frequencies were with the Haitian Cultural Club of Tallahassee and the Caribbean Student Association. During my senior I served as the president of the Haitian Cultural Club. Today, I give much credit to that organization for teaching me the fundamentals of how to operate a business and most importantly how to manage and organize people.

Less then a year and a half after graduating from college, I officially established Motown Maurice Productions, Inc., a video/photography company built for preserving memories with excellence and serving Tampa Bay's local community in socially minded partnerships. With that state of mind, I established numerous relationships with community focused organizations. Between 2004-2010 I was the official photographer/videogragher for the DSI Black Pages, The Tampa Bay Organization of Black Affairs (TOBA), The Tampa Black Heritage Festival and more.

My affinity for social and cultural community driven organisations has influenced and impacted me in more ways then I know how to describe. Community involvement and partnerships have been a significant part of my business related endeavors over the past decade. Then came Hollywood. As most of my followers know, I relocated to Los Angeles, CA, September 19, 2010 and I quickly noticed the deficiency of black organizations/cultural festivities in this city. October 26th of last year, I finally took a trip to the University of Southern California with the intentions sitting in a few of my favorite student meetings. I was stunned to find the absence of a Black Student Union or even a Caribbean Student Association. At the most, I believe there's a Black Student Film Group but I don't recall noticing it on the university's website. A colleague of mine told me about it and invited previously.

I've meet a handful of African American's in Hollywood but I've made very few strong connections. We're present in this city but we're unbelievably scattered. The thought of a centrally located hub for us seemed more and more like a figment of my imagination as the days went by. In a recent conversation, I posed the question, "Where is Black Hollywood?" Obviously there are several annual African American related film festivals but outside of that, I knew of nothing I could attend frequently.

Early this month, my tainted perception slightly began to change. When I received the invite to view the movie Dysfunction Friends by Corey Grant, not only did I thoroughly enjoy the experience, something inside of said, "Hello, Is It Me Your Looking For?" Around the same time, if not the same day, I received a Facebook invite from gentlemen named J.R. Pittman. The connection with J.R and I is a prime representation of my favorite quote throughout my blog. That quote is, "Everything Always Come Around Full Circle." I had the opportunity to audition for J.R Pittman's Casting Company February 17, 2011. The audition was for a Discovery program called the Survivalist Show.

Like many other auditions, I was partly certain I would get selected for the show but that never happened. Besides that, my interactions with J.R were delightful. He was very professional and he exchanged a lot of positive energy. That's probably why I thought I would get the selected. J.R's energy was radiant and impressionable compared to several other audition experiences I've had. Moreover, almost a year later (last month) he sent out a mass email that lead to us being Facebook friends. The immediate day after I viewed Dysfunctional Friends I saw J.R. on line at the AMC City Walk theatres getting ready to see the movie for himself. I approached him and I was pleased to know he remembered me by name. In our conversation, I acknowledged his Facebook invite to an upcoming event and my confirmation of attendance. J.R. was in line to also see Dysfunctional Friends and support the people he knew in the cast.

Since I joined Facebook back in 2008, I rarely showed much attention to its event invites. Emails and personal invites is what got me to places. However, this particular invite to a meeting social called M.O.C.I.T.I lured me in like a fish on a hook. I figured if J.R. Pittman and Corey Grant were confirmed to attend, this is the place I needed to be at. The information on the website and Facebook page was also inciting.

MOCITI is an outreach organization whose mission is to provide a support network and business vehicle for men of color in the entertainment industry. We are a service organization that believes we are to serve mankind.

This is the first networking organization of it's kind geared towards men of color in the entertainment industry including but not limited to actors, directors, producers, writers, casting directors, agents, photographers, entertainment lawyers, composers, music producers,performers.

Upon my arrival, I quickly noticed this event is a bit different from most of the social networking events I've attending in Hollywood thus far. Last Sunday, I code named the event I was attending as "Obstacle Networking." Mainly because you have to maneuver in environments with loud music, intoxicated people and crowded dance floors. None of that was present at the MOCITI meeting. "Hello, Is It Me Your Looking For?"

Initially, I took the observant and reserved approach. I didn't interact with too many people in the beginning because I was laying out the site. I tend to do that in new environments. I believe its always important to know the climate and temperature of new surroundings. Thus, it didn't take me long to realize I found a key component for my quest. I strongly believe that MOCITI is significantly vital to solving one of the puzzles in my adventure. Therefore, I am now steps closer to claiming my throne in Late Night Television.

Throughout the duration of the meeting, unity and camaraderie permeated from wall to wall, from brother to brother and even from sister to brother. Since today's meeting took place on Valentine Day MOCITI thought it was appropriate to have the ladies join. The meetings are traditionally all men.

Before the event started I noticed a familiar face. I said, in my head, "That's Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince." Finally I thought, I can get the opinion from someone who has worked with Will Smith. People tell me I look like Will Smith/Fresh Prince so much, I just knew James Avery would finally clear things up once and for all. I never did ask him that question but I sure enjoyed him as a guest speaker. His passion and knowledge of black history and theatre is inspiring. When James Avery speaks, its all inclusive. He educated the audience with early lessons in African American theatre then we traveled to Africa and back to America seamlessly.

At today's event, I was greeted by 3 people (including Corey Grant) that complimented my blog post about Dysfunction Friends. One person was one of the producers and I have no clue who the other person was. Each of them verbalized their appreciation for the article which makes me very proud what I wrote was well received. The more and more I blog the more and more I love it. I didn't come to Hollywood to become professional blogger but powers of this tool is revealed to me everyday. As I told Corey and others, "I may not know Hollywood entirely just yet but I know grass roots. We're all in this together."

Some of my memorable efforts to promote projects of my own were with The Motown Maurice Show and a few years prior to that I completed a full feature 2 hour documentary about the civil rights movement called Echoes of a Dream: The Historical & Spiritual Perspective of the Civil Rights Movement. Through these experiences and many others I know the importance of grass roots. Although some of the efforts of promoting a movie may be the same, I don't have the diligence of speaking from that angle yet. Which is why I recorded the whole portion of the event associated with promoting the Dysfunctional Friends and black films in general.

Normally, I've been sharing my identity with numerous people on a individual basis. Its been a while since I addressed a crowd and I sure got the chance to night. It felt good and it felt right. MOCITI is everything stated on in its description and more. Indeed, this organization is truly one of a kind. The stories shared on how they all go beyond the call of duty for each others projects are phenomenal. Today's meeting was incredible but many told me the regular meetings are even better. Men of Color in the Industry is founded upon many of the things I am most passionate about and I'm going to make it my duty to serve this organization. Attending this meeting felt like a reunion with my roots. For a guy like me MOCITI is food for the soul. Nourishment for the body. MOCITI is home sweet home.

Having been in many leadership positions before, my eyes are keen towards observing good leadership and genuineness. That and more were displayed constantly throughout the meeting. In particular, it was highly visible from J.R. Pittman and Jon Covington. Jon who appears to be MOCITI's commander in chief, orchestrated the event with great passion and his passion resonated upon everyone in attendance. There is no question on whether I'll be back or not. I wish I new about this organization upon arriving in LA but nothing happens before its time. Without a doubt, I've crossed paths with these great man for an even greater purpose.

A couple days prior to this shoot, I was in a highly desired dilemma. On Friday, I was being acquired for two different music videos. The other group was named Fyre??? (spelling check needed) and they wanted me for Sunday and today (Monday). Not only were they going to pay me for two days they told me they really wanted me and I was going to be a feature. I tried to just go in for Sunday but two days were mandatory. It would of been nice to do two music videos in a weekend but not this time. I stuck with the music video that contacted and followed up with me first. The bands name is Neon Trees. I wasn't familiar with them by name until today. There hit single is named "Animal." I'm confident I've heard it on the radio before.

The name of this music video I'm a part of is called "Every Body Talks."

At Denny's working on Week 72 Video Review.

* After Denny's I went to Free Monday Night Improv classes and met a really cool new friend. On the way back home the transportation authority decided they we're going to be checking tickets/tap passes on Wilshire/Vermont. Since I've been back from the holiday break I ignited my old routine of not paying not paying for train rides. The buses would only get a dollar from me but the trains nothing. I believe in paying for transportation but since there hasn't be a steady flow of income I've been cutting my corners. I did that a bunch of times within my first year (December 5, 2010).

Today, was a judgement call with the authorities but somehow I got passed them again. When I noticed them, I took a moment to think of a legitimate excuse. Then the officer asked me, "ticket or tap?" I said, "tap." He said, "okay, walk through and tap your card on the other side." I knew very well that my card had no funds on it. I walked through, paused then tilted my head to the side. They weren't even paying attention to me. They were focused on all the other passengers. Therefore, I just continued walking until I got home. That's what you called a close call. That could of been a possible $250.00 ticket. I amaze myself because that's like the 4th time I've been stopped by the transit authority and I managed to get away free. Although, I know I could continue to get away with it. It gets tired after awhile. A day or two later I just paid for my weekly pass.

* I met a lady named Myrta at The Notice Network 18th Annual SAG Awards Networking Event. She asked me to call her about a movie audition and I reluctantly did a few days later. After we spoke I was still apprehensive about going. I felt like I needed more information. Nonetheless, Myrta continued to be proactive about calling me. Yesterday, she called and shared much more information and I then officially confirmed my attendance. I'm glad I went. The audition even inspired me to trim my beard.

Final Thoughts

The weekend ended in a tug a war between music videos. Two music videos wanted me for Sunday & Monday but I couldn't do both. I actually went with the first video that called me even though the video I turned down was going to have me as a feature and pay me more money for two days. I believe in staying loyal to my word. I'll share more about the music video ordeal next week.
